One of the most valued executives in the National Basketball Association is going to join one of its most confronted franchises.
The Golden State Warriors recruited Jerry West on Friday to co-ordinate with the employees associated with the front-office in a mentor role and be an associate of the administrative board. West will help the basketball front-office workforce and the business division of the team, reporting strait away to new possessors Peter Guber and Joe Lacob.
"His activities in this business as both executive and a player are almost beyond understanding and surely well-documented," Lacob asserted. "He is simply a winner and, quite sincerely, you can never have so many of those in your firm."
The Hall of Famer was a fourteen time All-Star with the Los Angeles Lakers and the motivation for the NBA's logo. As the Lakers' GM he spent 18 seasons and 5 years in Memphis' front office, reconstructing both franchises from the foundation.
West is going to be an important element of a new workforce stimulated with leading the Warriors back to the playoffs after formulating the postseason only on one occasion since year 1994. Golden State is also looking for a coach as Keith Smart's agreement was not transformed.
West's tasks also will include marketing and sponsorship endeavors.
