USATF declared Tuesday the women's marathon team for the 13th IAAF World Championships in Athletics that is to be held in Korea. Coming off of a 5th place finish at the 2011 B.A.A. Boston Marathon, Kara Goucher will once again lead the Team USA women to the opening line in Daegu when tournament gets in progress on Sunday, August 27.
Goucher will be joined by Tera Moody who cemented her place in the team with individual best of 2:30:53 at the 2010 Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
Colleen De Reuck (2004 Olympic marathoner) is going to be there with Moody and Goucher thanks to her record run at the 2010 Copenhagen Marathon.
Completing the 5 woman team will be Alissa McKaig and Kathy Newberry.
Arciniaga leads men's team
Marathon team of men is going to be led by Nick Arciniaga, who cemented his place in the team with a 2nd finish in January at the Chevron Houston Marathon.
Team USA will also feature Jeffery Eggleston and Sergio Reyes the individual champions from the 2010 USA Men's Marathon Championship. Reyes clinched the title at the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon past October and Eggleston finished just 7 secs behind.
Rounding out the men's team is going to be Mike Morgan and Mike Sayenko who cemented their places on Team USA with their individual performances.
